THE POWER OF DETERMINATION

To a determined man, what seems to be the end is his starting point. The power of determination can not be overemphasized.




From my own point of view, determination is a very strong will to stand on what you want to see happen. The power a determined man carries is so powerful to the extent that it propels him to keep on even when it is obvious that he should give up.



In the case of the Israelites when the Lord commanded Moses to send all the leaders of the Israelite. One of the reasons why so many fail is because they had underestimated the power of determination – they don’t see beyond the present tall wall that confronts them.



Out of the twelve tribes that Moses sent out to explore the land of Canaan, it was only two that understood what could be done their determination – they knew they could actually do it.



Just like the other ten of the leaders of the Israelites Moses sent (Shammau, Shaphat, Joseph, Palti, Gaddiel, Ammiel, Sethur, Nahbi and Geuel), many people today, though they see what the future holds for them, though they see the land of their future flowing with Milk and honey, they are eventually conquered by their powerful obstacles and fortifies cities because of the lack of determination and such people don’t last in the race of life and most importantly the race to eternity – they are easily forgotten



According to Paul in (II Cor. 9: 24-25)



“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the game goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will forever last”



The difference between the men who gets the crown out of the many runners lies in the power of their determination. A determined man can go all the way to achieve the seemingly impossible and make it possible. A determined man sees failure as one of the ladder he must climb to get to the top of his destination.

History is full of men and women who have achieved great things even in their disabilities with their determination;

John Milton

John Milton is one of the greatest and learned English poets of all times. He is said to be the most knowledgeable English poet of all time.

He spent most of his life working on theology, philosophy and history but he became blind at the age of 43.

It was after he became blind he wrote what is called one the masterpieces of English literature “THE PARADISE LOST”.

The fact that John Milton did not allow his blindness to stop him from writing poems and that he wrote his finest poems during his blindness makes him one of the most admirable disabled people of the world.

Helen Keller

With out a spec of doubt Helen Keller is the bravest and the most amazing disabled person ever born.

She was deaf, blind and mute and despite of this she was one of the greatest women activist, socialist, authors and was the first deaf blind person to get a bachelors degree is arts.

How did she do it? The answer is sheer determination and Anne Sullivan. Anne Sullivan was Helen’s tutor who motivated her to study and compelled her to use her sense of touch and her mental power to achieve all the success that she was capable to achieve.

Helen Keller was born a normal child, but at the age of three a fever hit her which made her loose her sense of vision, hearing and speaking.

Her parents hired for her a tutor at the age of twelve who was Anne Sullivan. With the aid and support of Anne, Helen Achieved the success no one had ever imagined a deaf blind and mute person would do

Tanni Grey Thompson



Tanni Grey is perhaps the greatest disabled sport stars of all time.

This physically challenged woman used a wheel chair all her life but despite of that she won 16 medals at the Para Olympics.

Out of these 16, 11 are gold. She holds the record for making 30 world records in Para Olympics



Roger Bannister wrote, “ The man who will drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win”. The man who can keep on even after receiving so many knock down and still stand to push on is surely going to win someday.

The power a determined man carries makes him say YES when others have said NO. This is the case of the twelve people Moses sent out to spy the land of Canaan. The other ten said NO when they see the fortified cities, though Caleb and Joshua sees the same thing but they are more determined to possess the promise land.

In verse (Numbers verse 30 of chapter 13), Caleb silenced the other ten of the people that they went together to explore the land of Canaan. A determined man will always silenced every confrontation, failures, set backs with his strong will to achieve success.

A determined man sees himself equal and above his challenges in life. The other people sees themselves as inferior, they sees themselves as non able to possess the promise land, they sees themselves and grasshoppers but with the determined men, victory is a must.

Nehemiah said “I am doing a great work and I can’t come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you. Nehemiah sees no reason why he should stop the great work he was doing. Every determined man knows the important of the great work ahead of them so they give no room for quitting until they achieved their purpose. No wonder Benjamin Disraeli said, “ Nothing can resist the human will that will stake even its existence on its stated purpose”.

Bear in mind, if you are going to amount to anything, that your success does not depend upon the brilliancy and the impetuosity with which you take hold, but upon the ever lasting and sanctified buldoggedness with which you hang on after you have taken hold.

THE MOST INPORTANT PREDICTOR OF SUCCESS IS A MAN’S DETERMINATION.

As it has been said, if you can't walk RUN, if you can't crawl FLY, by ALL MEANS KEEP MOVING.

Many dreams, goals, and visions of achieving something worthwhile has been put to stop because the dreamer looked at the obstacles rather than the way out.

Life's obstacles, barriers, and challenges presents to us two vital option that are necessary for either our success in life or our failure. Its very important to know that in every obstacles life presents to us in our course to achieve our dreams or goals, its important that we keep moving and never bow for our overwhelming challenges.

The gospel truth is that the world is not interested in where you start from, all they wants to know is HAVE YOU ARRIVED?

One of the best way to keep moving is to let go of whatever makes you stop, let go of your confrontation and keep moving. Let go of your self imposed limitation and keep moving. You will only be judged by what you finished not by what you start.

It takes the hammer of persistence to drive out the nail of success. You will find no real satisfaction  or happiness in life without obstacles to conquer, goals to achieve and a purpose to  accomplished.

When you get into a tight and everything goes against you until it seems as though you could not  hold on a minutes longer, never give up keep moving for that's just the time and place the tide will  turn.

Let me take the case of the Israelites  for more understanding when God brought them out of the land of Egypt. In the book of (Exodus 14:10) the Bible says when the Israelites saw the king and his army marching against them, the challenges behind them; Herod and His army and the one before them; the red sea, they were terrified and started complaining to Moses.

And the Lord said to Moses in (verse 15 of the same chapter) TELL MY PEOPLE TO MOVE FORWARD.

The clause TELL MY PEOPLE TO MOVE FORWARD above is in capital letter because that is the point I want to make. You see each step we take towards achieving our dreams or goals is very important to our achieving it. When the Lord told Moses to tell His people to move forward, the fact that they obeyed was a prove that they about overcoming their challenges. It was after they obeyed that the Lord told Moses to stretch forth the rod in his hands and the red sea open up and the people of Israelites walk on a dry land. Thomas Edison would have stop moving when His teacher told him he was too dull to cope in school but he kept moving. Hannah would have stop moving after attending Shiloh in so many occasions and it seems God is not  answering her prayer but she kept moving by not giving up, as a result, her desire was granted (she conceived). I'm also telling you to keep moving even when you feel like backsliding in your ministerial duty, keep moving in pursuit for admission into higher institution, keep moving in the project you are embarking upon, keep moving in  your pursuit of excellence. REMEMBER IF YOU THINK YOU CAN OR YOU CAN NOT, YOU ARE RIGHT. As a MAN thinketh so he IS.

There is no doubt to this; we can always do whatever we have in mind to do as long as we have the plan of God about it. There is no limit to what we can do when the Lord is part of it, no one can stop you on what you desire to do and most especially when you are on the Lord’s side.

When a person makes you feel you are not capable enough, tell him or her you can always do it. After all people told Nehemiah he could not build  the broken wall of Jerusalem, they mocked, but He knew he could do it having the Lord on his side.

It is not when people say you can’t do something that they are right, no, not at all, guess what! It is when you agree with them that you cannot that is when you truly will not.

When men speak ill of you, live so as nobody may believe them. Any one who believes is strong; anyone who doubt is weak. While, because strong conviction precede great actions.

If you want to be confidence, but don’t normally act that way, today, just this once, act in the physical world the way you believe a confidence person would.

The are some group of people who knew they could achieve their dream and God confirmed that nothing can be restrained from what they have imagine to do.

At first, the people of the world had only one language and used the same words. As they wandered about in the east, they came to a plain in Babylonia and settled there. They said to on another. “ Come on! Lets make brick and bake them hard, so they had bricks to build with the tar to hold them together. They said, : Now lets build a city with a towel that reaches the sky, so that we can make a name for ourselves and not to be scattered all over the earth”.

Then the lord came down to see what the city and the towel, which those men had, build and He said, “ Now then, these are all one people and they speak one language; this is just the BEGINNING of what they are going to DO. Soon they will be ABLE TO DO ANYTHING THEY WANT!

If the ALMIGHTY GOD says nothing can be restrained from anything we desire to do, who then can stop us? Nobody! But we can stop ourselves and that is what we’ve been doing. So lets wake up and achieve the purpose of God for our lives.

Either you will get well or die

If you get well, you don't have to worryell you don't have to worry

Because you will be so busy shaking hands with friends
So you don't have to worry AT ALL

DEVELOP A NEW WAY OF THINKING

We all want to succeed in life, we all want to achieve great things in life, we all want our voices to be heard.We are all ambitious of one thing in life, all these are the things we must strive for in life,but not until we change our old thought of unbelief, inferiority complex, self-limitation, negativity and develop a new way of thinking.The scripture recorded in Genesis chapter 11 downward that nothing can be restrained from what they have imagined to do.This simply means we will always do and become whatsoever we imagine or thought of.One we must not fail to understand is that,out of our mind are the issues of life.
Developing a new way of thinking is simply, leaving those old thought of self-limiting belief that our chances of success.Shutting our mind to old thought is one of the surest way of bringing in new ones.
Developing a new way of thinking does not really implies that our old thought are bad.Let me take a footballer for instance, a player that always thought of scoring a goal in a football match, scoring a goal in a match is not thought but he can develop a new thought by thinking of scoring hat-trick, that is one of the things it implies.
The scripture says as man thinks so he is so if u are still struggling with old ways of thinking, whatsoever you might think, that is what you'll eventually become.
A man who gives himself to quality thinking will make his a donation to this generation rather than a mere duration he passes through.
Every human achievement, every invention surrounding us today,from a safety pin to as great as a nuclear bomb, rocket science,intricate machines, computers, sattellite system and mobile phones were onece a proccess on somebody's mind.Even an unbrella was once thought of by someone ad we can all testi fy to its usefulness.
So my dear reader, think and think BIG.Why? because God gives small thing to a small thinker.
